a new record has been broken!

In September, a new record was broken. Indeed, less than a million electrified cars have been sold worldwide.

As we know, electric cars have been on the rise for a few years. Their market share has increased very markedly, especially this year, when it now reaches 12% in France, compared to barely 7% in 2021. A marked increase which is explained in particular by the increasing number of models. , but also by financial incentives of the government and in particular the ecological bonus. Not to mention the ZFEs, which also force some motorists to change cars in order to continue driving. But that’s not all, because the ecological argument also speaks to many drivers. With all this, it is not surprising that electric cars are so popular, despite still some obstacles such as charging and price. But that does not seem to prevent the success of this engine.

A record

Indeed, according to the EV-Volumes site, it is no less thanone million electrified cars which were sold worldwide in September alone. An impressive figure, up 51% compared to last year. A real record! In total, zero-emission models then represent 13% of the global market, while hybrids account for only 4%. In total, more than 6.8 million plug-in cars have been registered worldwide since the start of the year. According to forecasts, this figure should reach 10 million by the end of the year. A real performance, led by the 100% electric models. By way of comparison, 6.5 million connected cars were sold over the whole of last year.

Tesla in the lead

But then, which models are most appreciated by customers. Unsurprisingly, it is Tesla that tops the ranking, with the Model Y and Model 3, while the BYD Song Plus comes in 3rd place. It is followed by the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV and the BYD Qin Plus. Be careful, because this classification mixes electric models but also rechargeable hybrids. Since the beginning of the year, it is once again the Tesla Model Y that has attracted the most, followed by the Model 3 and the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV.
