Monaco knocked out at the gates of the Euroleague Final Four after their defeat in game 5 against Olympiakos

The doors of Belgrade and the Final Four of the Euroleague have closed on Sasa Obradovic and the Monegasques. Leading the score for most of their decisive match 5 of the quarter-finals, the Roca Team lost the thread in the last quarter and ended up giving in to Olympiakos (88-94).

Mike James (24 points, 10 assists) and Paris Lee (14 points) propelled Monaco into the lead at half-time (48-41, 20th) before suffering the return of the Greeks, unleashed in the last quarter. Unhappy in match 4, he had missed the winning shot, Kostas Sloukas was forgiven by scoring an award-winning shot to knock out the Monegasques (83-89, 38th). Tyler Dorsey imitated him 1’20” from the buzzer to seal the fate of the match (88-94, 39th).

Winner of the Eurocup in 2021, Monaco came very close to snatching their ticket for the Final Four in the Serbian capital, which would have been a first for a club in the French championship since 1997. But it is the Greeks who will face Anadolu Efes Istanbul for a place in the final.


With FC Barcelona’s victory over Bayern Munich yesterday and Olympiakos on Wednesday evening, the home teams now have a record of 15 wins for zero losses in match 5 of the Euroleague play-offs.
