Monkey pox. One death confirmed in Spain, the 1st in Europe

The Spanish health authorities announced this Friday, July 29, 2022 that they had recorded a death due to monkey pox. This is the first death linked to this disease to be recorded in Europe.

As the agency reports EFE the Spanish Ministry of Health indicated on Friday July 29, 2022 that it had recorded a death linked to monkey pox, a disease which has already infected 4,298 people in the country.

Second monkeypox death outside Africa

This death linked to the “monkeypox” virus is only the second recorded outside Africa since the start of the recent outbreak of this disease, and the first in Europe.

A little earlier this Friday, July 29, the Brazilian authorities had also announced a death due to this disease, now considered by the WHO as a public health emergency of international concern.
