A 28-year-old Frenchman contracted monkeypox three weeks ago. He told RTL about his symptoms.
While the World Health Organization (WHO) is questioning the establishment of an “international public health emergency”, the monkey pox epidemic is intensifying in France. As of June 14, 2022, “125 confirmed cases of monkey pox have been reported” on national territory, according to Public Health France.
Pierre, a 28-year-old Frenchman living in Germany, contracted the disease three weeks ago. This Wednesday, June 15, he testified on RTL of his symptoms. “I was tired. I had outbreaks of pimples, which at first looked like acne, which grew, grew… to become the size of a fingernail”, he says.
“I had almost 40 fever for two days. There is no treatment. The only recommendation is to wait and isolate yourself”, also explained the one who “is only starting to get better” . “A priori, I contracted the disease during sexual intercourse with a man”.
