Just like in other states, the insurance determines your premiums or surcharges based on your driving habits rather than standard criteria like age or your credit score. Tesla examines the safety numbers of its electric vehicles and looks for signs of aggressive driving that could increase the risk of a crash, such as collision warnings, hard braking or sticking the car in front too hard. This rewards good driving and, of course, keeps people buying Tesla cars.
The company intends to eventually offer its insurance throughout the United States. Difficult, however, to know if this will be done easily or not. Tesla already offers its insurance in California, but it still needs to get permission to use driving data. In France, this kind of offer is just starting to arrive, difficult to imagine being able to enjoy it for many years to come.
