The American brand Lucid Motors will market its Air sedan in Europe this summer. A sizeable weapon against the Tesla Model S.
Lucid Motors, an American brand of electric vehicles, keeps us spellbound with a large sedan called Air, which promises great things. But so far, it was only marketed in North America. A spokesperson for the brand has just confirmed that the car will also be sold in Europe, starting this summer.
From June in Europe
The Lucid Air, revealed in 2016 by a prototype, took a long time to arrive with us. Admittedly, the segment of large electric sedans is not the most buoyant, since buyers and manufacturers seem to favor SUVs, but the Tesla Model S seems to be alone with us. Admittedly, the Germans are waking up to the Mercedes EQE and EQS and BMW i7, but they are still a cut above in terms of budget. The real rival of the Model S is also American, and will land on the Old Continent from June or July according to a spokesperson for the brand, interviewed by Autocar.
According to our British colleagues, the first served would be the Germans, followed by other major European markets such as Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Norway. Switzerland and the United Kingdom should also be part of it. On the other hand, France is strangely not in this list, despite a relatively flourishing market.
The Lucid Air sedan had already revealed its technical sheet in 2020, with impressive figures: 4.97 m long, up to 830 km range depending on the version chosen, five variants of 480 hp, 620 hp, 800 hp, 933 hp or even 1,111 hpand a 0 to 100 km/h which oscillates between 2.5 and 3.2 seconds.
A few weeks ago, Lucid presented a powerful new version, called Air Grand Touring Performance. This competitor of the Model S Plaid offers itself 1,065 hpbarely less than the 1,111 hp of the former Lucid Air Dream Performance, a limited edition for the launch now closed for reservation.
