What are the best electric cars to rent from €100 per month?

More and more customers are turning to rental offers to change vehicles. Manufacturers have taken this trend on board, regularly offering attractive offers on some of their 100% electric models.

Cash purchase and traditional credit are no longer as successful as in the past. A growing number of customers prefer to opt for long-term rental by renewing their electric vehicle more regularly. Rental with Option to Purchase (LOA) and Long-Term Rental (LLD) are the two formulas offered by car manufacturers. The second (LLD) is particularly popular with manufacturers in their communications, who see it as an opportunity to offer their best prices on entry-level models. What electric model can you find for less than 200 or 300 € per month?

While waiting for the government to put in place its proposal for an electric vehicle at €100 per month, we will have to deal with existing offers. To say that some time ago, Kia and MG had launched offers for less than 100 € per month, unfortunately temporary.

We have listed the offers based on the prices put forward by the manufacturers on their websites as of July 22, 2022. The summer period is often an opportunity to benefit from attractive prices. Please note that some offers presented in our comparison may be limited in time.

Which electric car to choose for a budget of less than €200 per month?

We were able to list a dozen 100% electric models which offer, at least temporarily, a long-term rental offer on an entry-level model at less than €200 per month.

These call prices relate to the first prices in the manufacturer’s catalog. If you want a better equipped version, the proposed rent will quickly increase.

If the list revolves a lot around urban vehicles, we also note that it is not always the size, or even the spot rate, which defines the rental price. It is often necessary to pay particular attention to the conditions of access to the advertised rate.

What are the 100% electric models between 200 and 400 € per month?

The choice necessarily becomes more varied when you can increase your monthly budget, or even double it. By listing the models with a rental offer of up to €400 per month, we add around twenty models to the previous list:

The vast majority of the offers mentioned above relate to Long Term Rentals (LLD) of 37 or 48 months, with a maximum of 30,000 or 40,000 km authorized. Only Lexus with its UX 300e communicates on a Rental with Option to Buy in this selection.

What about other models and manufacturers?

All premium models exceed €400 per month rent. The most affordable premium model is the entry-level Audi Q4 e-tron from €460 per month. Then there is, from €490 per month, a Lease with Option to Purchase (LOA) offer for the standard Tesla Model 3, while its equivalent in LLD is presented on the Tesla site at more than €770 per month. . The Volvo C40 and XC40 models come next at €515 per month in LLD.

Some models from premium manufacturers do not display LOA or LLD offers on their website. Mercedes should perhaps have deactivated this information. The Mercedes EQA, in its smallest engine, displays a rental of more than €1,385 per month for its LOA offer, a particularly surprising positioning for the smallest model in Mercedes’ electric range.

LOA or LLD, what is the difference?

The two formulas of LOA and LLD may seem quite close. In both cases, you are required to pay monthly installments to benefit from a vehicle for a fixed period and with a maximum mileage to respect. If manufacturers communicate more widely using the LLD, it is because they are forced to display a lot of legal information with each tariff communication. The LLD is more readable and easier to understand than the LOA.

In the context of a Long-Term Rental, you must necessarily part with the vehicle at the end of the contract, even if you have fallen in love with your car and you cannot find other exciting offers to replace it. LLD often offers maintenance and repairs included during the rental period. On the other hand, pay attention to the mileage and the condition of the vehicle: if you return a vehicle with a mileage higher than that of the contract, or if you have damaged your bodywork, this could quickly cost you significant additional penalties.

For its part, the LOA offer allows, as its name suggests, to have the possibility of buying back the vehicle you have used at the end of its contract. It is a more flexible formula, but which is a bit of a bet at the time of signing on the real value of the vehicle after these few years of use.

Both formulas offer advantages and disadvantages, but if you do not feel that you are depending on a contract that is a little too rigid, more traditional credit should not be excluded from the possibilities of financing your new vehicle.
