what price in Europe for the competitor of the Tesla Model 3?

After opening reservations last month, Xpeng is formalizing the base prices for its new electric sedan in four European markets. Unsurprisingly, the starting price is very close to that of the Tesla Model 3.

Launched in China only a few months ago, the Xpeng P5 is about to land on the European continent. After opening reservations in certain markets last month, the Chinese brand is formalizing a first price list. A way to give visibility to buyers as to the amount they will have to pay.

A price similar to the Tesla Model 3

Without going into the details of the different options, which will be communicated later, Xpeng communicates on a base price of around €50,000 for the four markets where reservations are open: Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.

Unsurprisingly, this base price is similar to that of the Tesla Model 3, whose prices have jumped in recent weeks. In the Netherlands, the Xpeng P5 is even cheaper than the Model 3, which costs €51,990 in its basic version.

Market Local currency price Price in Euro
Denmark 390,000 DDKs €52,420
Netherlands €48,000 €48,000
Norway NOK 380,000 €51,000
Sweden NEK550,000 €57,000

465 km range

While it offers three battery configurations for the Chinese market, the manufacturer has so far only chosen one for the European market. Accumulating 66.2 kWh of capacity, it allows up to 465 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle. The characteristics of the engine are the same as those announced in China. Configured in traction, the P5 combines 155 kW of power and 310 Nm of torque for a 0 to 100 km/h shot in 7.5 seconds. On the charging side, the 11 kW system is completed by a quick connector meeting the Combo CCS standard. A little disappointing, the peak power is limited to 70 kW.

In terms of equipment, the XPeng sedan receives a heat pump and a 3.3 kW V2L device to power other electrical devices. Added to this is the XPilot 2.5 driving assistance system, a competitor to the Tesla Autopilot, which is based on a set of cameras and sensors.

Equipped with an operating system called Smart OX, the Xpeng P5 Xmart OS combines a huge 15.6-inch central screen with 12.3 “digital instrumentation.

Delivery dates to be specified

Beyond the formalization of these first European tariffs, the manufacturer has also opened its online configurator in Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden. In Norway, the launch will take place in a few weeks. Customers wishing to discover the vehicle and talk to the manufacturer’s teams can also go to one of the brand’s three branches in Copenhagen, The Hague and Stockholm.

If Xpeng does not yet communicate a timetable for the European market, it is estimated that the first models will be delivered to customers by the end of the year. As for the marketing of this Xpeng P5 in France, this does not seem to be the priority at the moment…
